Installing SmartShredz insulation really is easy. To figure out how much you need -- just follow three simple steps:
1. Determine the square footage of your attic
2. Connecticut is located in Zone 5 with a recommended R-value of R49-R60 for an uninsulated attic - decide the R-Value range you would like
3. Based on your square footage and desired R-value, calculate the amount of bags you will require
R-Value to Bags per 1000 sq/ft with 2x6 Joists 16" on center
R13 = 15.8 Bags per 1K sq/ft
R19 = 25.0 Bags per 1K sq/ft
R22 = 30.0 Bags per 1K sq/ft
R30 = 43.5 Bags per 1K sq/ft
R38 = 57.2 Bags per 1K sq/ft
R49 = 76.1 Bags per 1K sq/ft
R60 = 95.1 Bags per 1K sq/ft
Note: Above suggested for uninsulated attic. For already insulated attics, deduct your existing R-value from your desired R-value.
